01/ The Challenge

Roc-Nation was preparing to drop Casanova2x’s latest album.

The album, titled Behind These Scars, was his biggest to date + the team wanted to make sure they had an album cover and images for the rollout that portrayed this message loud + clear.

02/ The Story

After meeting with both Roc-Nation + Casanova’s management teams, we landed on a simple goal of what my role as both photographer + creative director was: to capture images that matched the “true to home” story-telling style of Casanova.

I figured what better way of doing this than to capture the images on the same streets he was raised on in Flatbush Brooklyn, New York.

I had Casanova walk me around his neighborhood + tell some of his stories he recalled. The photos feel intimate and personal because they were purposely capture while Casanova was sharing intimate and personal moments.

03/ The results

Given the album’s title, I made sure to capture the scars Casanova had gotten throughout his lifetime, each having its own story,

The final images were both artistic and raw - as real as it comes.
